About Max Verago

Max Verago, tattoo artist in Cologne

I’m Max Verago, a tattoo artist in Cologne with 9 years of experience. Classical art, sculpture and architecture are at the heart of my inspiration, alongside mythology, Japanese culture and Chicano imagery. I’m drawn to expressive forms, stories and the connections between different images.

Each project starts with your ideas. Whether we work within one visual tradition or explore different influences, I bring the elements together through depth, contrast and atmosphere, creating a cohesive composition that flows naturally with your body.

I create individual tattoos as well as sleeves, back pieces, leg projects and other large-scale work. For larger projects, we develop the overall direction and a realistic session plan before booking. Consecutive tattoo days can be discussed individually, including for clients travelling to Cologne, with the schedule tailored to the project and your needs.

You don’t need a finished concept to get started. Send me your ideas, preferred placement and references on WhatsApp, and we’ll discuss the creative direction, estimated cost and session plan.

The Process

Every project begins with a conversation. Tell me your idea and preferred placement — I’ll develop the visual direction shaped to your anatomy, scale and balance so the piece reads as one cohesive composition.

  1. 01

    Idea & references

Send a short description of your idea, preferred placement, and a few reference images. A finished concept is not required to start.

  2. 02

    Preliminary design direction

For large, multi-day projects (sleeves, full backs, torsos, full legs) I send a preliminary design direction ~1 week before your appointment to confirm the project’s foundation. For single-session or small pieces this step is not required.

  3. 03

    Final fit & execution

Final proportions and small adjustments are refined on the day of the appointment and during the session to suit your anatomy.

  4. 04

    Sessions & aftercare

Estimated session counts are discussed individually. After each session you’ll receive clear aftercare instructions and follow-up support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions — if yours isn’t listed, message me on WhatsApp.

How is the price determined?
Prices are set per project based on size, level of detail and placement. I provide an estimate after we discuss your idea and references.
How long does a large project take?
Session counts depend on design and skin. Typical ranges: full sleeve 7–8, full back 8–10, full torso/leg 10–12. Final scope is agreed individually.
Do you send a design before the appointment?
For large, multi-day projects (sleeves, full backs, torsos, full legs) I send a preliminary design direction ~1 week before the appointment to confirm the project’s foundation. For single-session or small pieces, the final fit and design are refined on the day of the appointment.
How does the deposit work?
Deposit is €100 per booked day. It secures your date and is deducted from the final total. Dates are not reserved without a deposit.
Can I travel to you for an appointment?
Yes — I regularly work with clients from Cologne, across Europe and abroad. Many fly in specifically for multi-day projects. For these jobs I recommend booking consecutive days so we keep a strong workflow and treat the piece as one cohesive project.
How many consecutive days can I book?
You can book as many consecutive days as needed (2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8+). My technique and pacing are optimised for back-to-back sessions, which allows efficient progress, consistent quality and manageable recovery. Booking several days in a row often means large projects are finished faster — fewer trips and a more cohesive result.
